A rich, creamy chocolate mousse made with ripe avocados and dark chocolate, finished with fresh raspberries for a burst of flavor and color.

The first time I made this avocado chocolate mousse, I was skeptical if the avocado would truly disappear into the chocolate flavor. To my delight, it created an incredibly smooth and creamy texture that won over even the pickiest dessert lover in my family.

Ingredients

  • Mousse: 2 large ripe avocados (peeled and pitted), 100 g dark chocolate (chopped), 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 4 tbsp pure maple syrup (or honey), 2 tsp pure vanilla extract, pinch of sea salt, 3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • Topping: 125 g fresh raspberries, 1 tbsp dark chocolate (shaved or finely chopped, optional), fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Melt Chocolate:
Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
Blend Ingredients:
In a food processor, blend avocados, melted chocolate, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt until smooth and creamy, scraping down sides as needed.
Adjust Consistency:
Add almond milk one tablespoon at a time, blending until your preferred mousse texture is reached.
Taste Adjustment:
Taste and add more maple syrup for extra sweetness if desired.
Chill:
Spoon mousse into four serving glasses or bowls. Cover and refrigerate at least one hour.
Topping:
Before serving, top each mousse with raspberries, shaved chocolate, and mint leaves as desired.
